Tea Reviews! Matcha, Rooibos, Green, Dandelion and more!

Now, my whole life i've just about hated tea unless it was doused in sugar and milk. These days I do my best to drink things good for me- which is tea, and not sugar.

Here are my fav teas in order of preference: (white meaning i used almond milk)

Teecino - Chicory Dandelion Caramel Nut Tea (with fig!)
Where I got it
White.
Scent is amazing fresh from the bag!
Super sweet, rich, and flavourful! Nutty and sweet! Bitter and similar to coffee, rich warm flavour. 1 Drop of stevia makes it delicious.
Would definitely buy again, quite expensive, however.
9.8/10

Bonvit - Chicory Dandelion Tea
White.
Tastes bitter and roasted like instant coffee.
A slight bit earthy. 1 Drop of stevia makes it delicious.
Would buy again, quite expensive, however.
8.5/10

Rooibos Vanilla Nerada
White.
Warm, strong and no tannins! Rich like chocolate. Not bitter. Nice.
Always buy! A regular, since it is affordable and delicious!
8.5/10

Madame Flavour - Ceylon choc orange
White.
Flavour is nice and has warmth.
Tastes creamy and orangey. Not much of the “choc” though. Over-brewed.
I would buy it again.
8/10

Qi - Blueberry Pomegranate Green Tea
Black.
Blueberry adds sweetness, and it is not dry!
Delicate with little tannins even if over brewed
I would buy again
7.5/10

Madame Flavour - Mint choc rooibos
White or Black (I prefer white).
Scent is pleasant first thing in the morning fresh from the foil!
Taste- weaker than Nerada rooibos.
Drink of choice soon after brushing teeth.
not bitter -no need of sweetener
Nice minty- not too minty, get mintier with time
PERFECT OTP with strawberries!
Would buy again.
7/10

T2 - Green Rose
White.
Tastes a bit bitter, needs a drop of stevia.
It is delicate. Pear-like. Light and fresh, less tannins than T2 black tea, but still astringent.
I would buy it again, for summer only.
7/10

White or Black (White is better frothed with full fat sweetened soy).
Taste is slightly bitter and strong "Grassy" flavour. May need a drop of stevia to take the bitter edge off if soy isn't sweetened.
I would buy it again for sure, matcha Lattes are so special, high in antioxidants and magestic!
6.5/10

Higher Living - White Tea, Strawberry
Black.
Smell is of delicate genuine strawberry.
Taste is subtle overall- the strawberry overpowers the tea. It leaves a polished feel to teeth that strawberries/sour fruit do (So i assume it is quite acidic). The mouth feels mostly astringent from the tea yet slippery from the strawberry.
I would buy again to be enjoyed cooled in summer.
6/10

Souvenir’s Estate - Green Tea and Sour Sop
Black.
Tropical like and Sour - needs stevia.
Still had some tannins.
Would buy again for health alone and variety.
5/10

T2 - Creme Brûlée
White.
Taste- 2t and brewed for 5-10 minutes….extreme!! Tannins are drying my throat and mouth! Bit extreme here but I used twice as much. So bitter it needed 1 drop of stevia.
Flavour is like normal black tea for the most part.
Would not buy again as for the price I can cheaply make black tea with a pinch of vanilla almond milk and replicate the flavour.
4/10

Fun fact about teas...
Camellia Sensis plant:
White is unprocessed and has the least caffeine, then Green is steamed and fried in under a day and is the most astringent, Matcha, oolong- semi oxidised and fired, Black - rolled and fully oxidised and the most caffeine.
All other teas are called Tisanes, which are:
Herbal, Floral, Rooibos, Honeybush, Spiced/Chai, and Fruity Tisanes!

Health about tea?
The more processed the more tannins and caffeine. These are anti-nutrients more or less. That's why non-camellia or less processed tea is better for you.
In order of antioxidant richness: rooibos, black (double rooibos), green (double black) , wine, grape juice, espresso, coffee (only slightly more than wine), matcha (double coffee), Hibiscus = (1 coffee and 1 cup green tea. or 1 1/3 matcha). But that's not all to consider. Rooibos lowers stress, fruit teas lower risk of certain cancers, all tea lowers risk of different cancers, improve artery function and green tea is great for teeth health!
Hibiscus having the most anti-oxidants (but horrible for teeth)- though however, I am allergic to that so I must stick with alternatives. You should limit yourself to only 5 cups a day due to aluminium and other contaminants like lead.
Also the lower the brewing temperature the less tannins and caffiene will leach. Tannins are good and bad (lower iron absorbtion but have health benefits). Just drink with a source of vitamin C (lemon) or an hour away from meals. That's also why the 5 cup rule is recommended. Rooibos is also low tannin as are tisanes. Green tea is good to sip, sour teas are not (teeth health).
