Vegan Patty Reviews - Gluten Free

Lentil Patties by Vegie Delights:
Cooked Lentils (42.5%), Vegetables (onions, carrots, potatoes, onions) (15.5%), Vegetable Oil (sunflower, canola), Water, Cooked Brown Rice, SoyProtein, Textured Soy Protein, Sunflower Kernels, Vegetable Gums (guar, carrageenan), Fibre (potato), Sugar (raw), Salt, Yeast Extract, Spices, Garlic, Onion Powder, Minerals (zinc, iron), Vitamin B12

It won the 2015 healthy food award for Health magazine and has a 5 star rating. The fact that a product containing oil actually has a 5 star rating worries me about the other products out there! The flavour has a hint of coriander and cumin- which I hate- but...JUST enough to be tasty and not overly distracting and stinky. Texture is some-what soft and paste like to a degree, quite oily, and fatty- due to do seed content- but none the less- it really is a delight to eat! So flavourful I like to use it in recipes where mince would be used- like for stuffing marrows and the like. Very filling as it contains potato! It contains veggies with minimal processed soy and some gums and oil so it is a bit processed...but a good healthy option in comparison with meats.

Quinoa and Rice protein Burgers by Fry Family Co:
Water, Gluten Free Crumb Coating (25%) (Rice Flour, Gram Flour, Maize Starch, Salt, Paprika, Pepper), Soy Protein (11%), Sunflower Oil, Brown Rice Protein (5%), Quinoa (5%), Potato Starch, Methyl Cellulose, Sea Salt, Rosemary, Marjoram, Sage, Chia (Salvia Hispanica) Seeds (3%), Yeast Extract, Garlic, Mustard Seeds, Turmeric, Black Pepper, Ginger

Fry's burgers are "chicken style". They have a white and slightly green "flesh" inside, a wonderful almost stringy texture. To me, they should be renamed as Schnitzels, even though they have other products actually called shnitzels. The ingredient list is a long list of processed foods, herbs and spices - so not as ideal as the vegie delights lentil burgers. These however have a much better juicy mouth feel without being "paste" like. A superb texture. The outside is QUITE oily so i recommend patting it off VERY WELL with a paper towel. This would make a nice chicken parma!
