Tempeh Facon Jerky - Vegan Jerky bacon, tempeh bacon, gluten free Jerky, meat free!


Tempeh Bacon

This stuff has good chew to it, and is crispy fresh off the pan. A beautiful charred taste- or not, you decide! It is great to tear up in salads or put in a sandwich or wrap!


INGREDIENTS:
rough ingredients
1 block tempeh
3 t liquid smoke
1/4c + 2TB red wine
1/8c balsamic vinegar
1 EPA DHA softgel or more, to taste
You can add soy sauce or salty product to taste, if you are not concerned with sodium. Miso is proven not to raise your blood pressure.




METHOD:
1- Finely slice the tempeh, about 2-3mm
2- Place in a non-stick pan on medium and "toast dry" on both sides - will take about 10 minutes each side, till medium browned on the raised areas
3- Once tempeh is browned, with a brush baste the marinade on the top side, and flip to "cook in".
4- Baste the other side facing up, and flip again to cook in that side and re-dry for good "jerky" texture.
5- For ultimate experience re-baste each side and keep flipping until you run out of marinade.
6- Take off pan to cool.
7- Once entirely cool pierce open a EPA DHA softgel and brush a drop of omega 3 oil on each side with your finger tip, as a brush would soak in the pricey product!
